Helen Mirren (The Queen, TV’s Prime Suspect) stars as Beaty, a high-price call girl operating out of a posh London nightclub. When she becomes romantically involved with a handsome American (John Shea) she is tempted to escape from her disreputable occupation. But her diabolical ex-boyfriend (Paul Angelis) returns from prison, drawing her more deeply into the drug-dealing underworld and away from her hopes of redemption. Along with such films as The Long Good Friday, The Hit, and Mona Lisa, Hussy is a tense and provocative plunge into organized crime and growing disillusionment of Thatcher-era England.
